Don’t Underestimate the Need of a High Quality Thermostat.
First of all, your new thermostat needs to be compatible with your home. That means, for one thing, it needs to work with the type of HVAC system you have in your home. It is also dependent on whether your home is fitted with Direct Line Voltage, 24mV, 1 Stage, 2 Stage, or Zone heating and cooling. Another thing that complicates matters concerns whether you have baseboard heater thermostats, boiler thermostats or furnace thermostats. Things can get complicated.
The main purpose of thermostats is to bring your home to a set temperature. But, in addition to controlling the temperature, there are types of thermostats that can manage them at different times of the day and on different days of the week. Obviously, having this type of control can save you money by cutting back on heating and cooling when it’s not needed.
Here Are Some Types of Thermostats:
Smart Thermostats: These are very popular since you can control and program them from your smartphone, computer or tablet. And some smart thermostats can be integrated with the smart hub in your home to control the temperature more precisely and save on cooling/heating bills.
Wi-Fi Thermostats or Wireless Thermostats: While similar to smart thermostats in being able to be controlled by smartphone, computer or tablet, these thermostats are not always able to be connected to a smart hub.
Programmable Thermostats: This type of thermostat can be programmed on the unit itself, but is not always WiFi enabled. They do provide much more exact temperature control than old, manual-style thermostats, and they can be set to remember time and day settings for up to a week or so, depending on the make.
Non-Programmable Thermostats: For a good money-saving choice, you can’t beat the non-programmable thermostat which is dependent on you manually setting it daily.
